So y’all know the game Apples to Apples right? I love that game. But now I have a game I love even more. Meet Cards Against Humanity. It’s the exact same concept as Apples to Apples but the cards are way more hilarious and offensive. I mean everything you need to know is right in the tagline, “a party game for horrible people.” Um. Yes please, where do I sign up? This seemed like the perfect thing to bring along to my sister’s bachelorette weekend because these kinds of games are always much more fun with the addition of booze. The thing is Cards Against Humanity is wildly popular and it’s always sold out. But never fear! The games creators have made a (free) downloadable pdf available. So all you have to do is download it, print it on a thick card stock at home (or at Staples which is what I did) and use a paper cutter to cut out all the cards. And once you’re done the cards fit perfectly into one of those plastic boxes from The Container Store (this one). And it looks pretty cute, too.

So if you like offensive humor (and I’m a fan) Cards Against Humanity might be the game for you. And it makes a perfect (and cheap) gift for the offensive humor lover in your life. Just add wine and you have a night of hilarious hijinks.

I’m beyond excited about this and I hope you’ll all go buy one (or eleven) immediately. I would totally owe you one (or eleven).

My friend Jessica is having a baby girl and I offered to make the favors for the shower which was this past weekend. I happen to think candy is the perfect little thing for all the guests to take home after a party. It’s a sweet little snack for later. So I scoured Duane Reade for candies that came in red or pink wrappers. (Sidenote: did you know you can buy a giant bag of Starburst that has only reds and pinks in it?! The future is here, my friends!) I divided up all the candies into plain glassine bags and folded them over. Taping them closed with Japanese masking tape and affixing a card I made on the computer and then printed and cut to size. These were hit and couldn’t have been any easier to pull off. But I’m beginning to wonder if you could affix Japanese masking tape to a dead pigeon in a cute way and render it somehow press. Because that’s a normal thing to wonder about.

What an awesome experience. First of all, getting to see the Brinson’s apartment (which is perfectly styled and stuffed to the gills with antiques and secondhand awesomeness) was almost enough for me. Let’s just say their aesthetic speaks to this lady. First we watched William and Susan set up, style and shoot some apple cider donuts (which we also got to sample – delish). Then we feasted on a savory tart lunch Susan had whipped up which was also quite tasty. We then selected our own food subjects to style and shoot. And with help from the brilliant Brinsons even I was able to snap some pretty food pics. Check ‘em out below! Not too shabby, eh? And a big thanks and a huge hug to the Brinsons who are equal parts talented, sweet and cool. A powerhouse combo, no? I am left wondering if they can adopt me.

-staple gun
-spray adhesive (although I didn’t use any, it might make it easier)

Just iron your fabric and lay it on top of the bulletin board, then insert the pins every inch or so around the border. Then staple gun the fabric to the back of the bulletin board and voila! Ready to hang and look cute!

I’m back with some more red for you this morning. I have that Ikea book shelf that everyone has with the open square shelves and I’m using it for a TV stand thingy. The only problem was the unsightly (and highly visible) tangle of cords that has stared directly into my soul for the past few weeks. But fear not, Ikea sells cabinet inserts for this particular shelf so problem solved. And they had a bright red cabinet insert which (surprise surprise) caught this lady’s eye. I love a pop of red (or any color really.) Kind of hard to believe that it’s just a big ol’ mess of cords behind that cute lil’ door.
