Blogger Crush: Chris from Man Made DIY & Curbly

Hip hip hooray for a new Blogger Crush. And a special one, to boot. This is my first solo male Blogger Crush. A few weeks ago I featured a man (William Brinson) as part of a couple (The Brinsons, obviously) but this is the first man who can claim to be one of my Blogger Crushes all on his own. Can you imagine his bragging rights?! Dear readers, meet Chris of Man Made DIY and Curbly. I know Chris from Alt Summit and he is a doll. Man Made DIY is a one-stop shop for all things manly, crafty and cool. I really love this blog and I’ve personally decided it should be required reading for all the men I date (I’m still figuring out how to implement this plan, stay tuned). And Curbly is a home improvement and DIY empire that will have your potential project list growing at an alarming rate. So, Chris is kind of a blogging star and he’s got phenomenal taste. Oh and in case that wasn’t enough, he’s also smart, clever, and totally adorable. And he makes a terrific drinking partner and has promised me a whiskey tutorial next time he’s in NYC which I fully plan on taking him up on. I’m so glad he stopped by and be sure to pay special attention to his answer to question nine. I rather loved that one, I think you’ll see why.

Blogger Crush: William and Susan Brinson of House of Brinson

Today is kind of momentous as far as things go around here. It marks a first in Blogger Crush history, and firsts are always exciting. In today’s Blogger Crush I feature more than one person for the first time ever. In today’s case it’s super-talented and all around cool married couple the Brinsons of The House of Brinson. I fell in love with their blog at first sight. And who wouldn’t? The styling is absolutely perfect, the photography is beautiful and the recipes are drool worthy. I first met the Brinsons when I took their food styling and photography class last year. It was pretty fantastic. I learned a lot and got to take a sneak peak at their totally awesome NYC apartment. They have impeccable taste and are collectors by nature. I couldn’t have been more jealous of the piles of vintage kitchen things and serveware that were in every knook and cranny. Seriously, I died. Oh by the way, they’re high school sweethearts too. Aw (!). It’s almost too much, right? I’m delighted to have these fellow New Yorkers here today because I think they are pretty much the bee’s knees.

Blogger Crush: Brittany of Wantist

Have you noticed that I have been making a concerted effort to post a new blogger crush every Thursday? Well I have been trying to make things a little more regular around here while still keeping a little bit of that slap dash/blogging by the seat of my pants charm that you’ve come to know (and love?). So it is in fact Thursday and I do in fact have a new blogger crush for your eyes today. Meet Brittany, my friends. She and I haven’t actually ever met in person (we missed each other at last year’s ALT somehow) but we’re good pals on the internets. Brittany and her husband Jacob are the couple behind Wantist, the genius website which is dedicated to the art of gift giving. And as an appreciator of that particular art form, I happen to love this website. They have a customizable search option so for example, you can find a romantic gift for someone geeky or a stylish gift for someone domestic or any of about a million other combinations. And even if you aren’t on a gift search for someone in particular, it is easy to get lost among the awesomeness that is their perfectly curated gift collection or the accompanying gift centric blog. Blogger Crush: Shoko from Sho & Tell

Hooray it’s Thursday. Which besides meaning we are so close to the weekend also means today’s post is a blogger crush. Meet Shoko. She’s a fellow New Yorker and the lovely lady behind the blog Sho & Tell. I had the pleasure of meeting Shoko at the dessert party I co-hosted last fall. And she is simply delightful. I knew we were destined to be good pals when we both brought the exact same dessert to the party (true story, I guess we both like molasses cookies). Sho & Tell is such a charming blog and I highly recommend you add it to your reads, it is the perfect place to get a little daily bit of enchanting inspiration. Blogger Crush: Molly from The Nesting Game

Today’s blogger crush is kind of a first. You see this lady is a blogger, yes. But I’ve known her for many years (9, I think?). Long before either of us were “bloggers.” Meet Molly. Not only is she a dear, dear pal of mine, she’s the hilarious home improvement whiz behind the up and coming blog The Nesting Game. While her blog hasn’t been around for all the long, she has quickly gained popularity and attention (I mean, she was featured on design sponge for goodness sake!). Molly and I went to ad school together in Atlanta, which is where she currently resides with her husband Taylor. They are always in the middle of some amazing project and the results never cease to amaze me (this was a personal fave of mine). I don’t read too many home improvement blogs because I’m a renter and can’t/won’t do all that much to imroove my place. But it’s fun for me to live vicariously through Molly as she makes this house of theirs a home. And Molly documents it all with her signature brand of humor. Go say hello to my pal. You won’t regret it.

Blogger Crush: Melissa from The Fauxmartha

My pal Kelly first introduced me to The Fauxmartha. And I am so glad she did. The Fauxmartha is a stunning food blog written and created by today’s blogger crush, Melissa. Melissa is an incredibly skilled baker so you’ll find lots of her recipes fall under that category. She also cooks though and so there’s a nice selection of savory items in addition to the vast array of baked delights in her archives. She is a graphic designer by trade. And you can tell because the sweet and simple layouts and type treatments she creates to showcase her food masterpieces are quite swoon worthy. What can I say? I am a fan of this girl’s style. Pair that with her beautiful photography and her enviable cooking skills, and you’ve got a must-read food blog. Plus I’m destined to be pals with anyone who makes something called “bitchin’ sauce“.

Blogger Crush: Ashley from Hither & Thither

Oh my, I just adore the gorgeous blog Hither and Thither. It’s a lifestyle and travel blog by married couple, Ashley and Aron. They started it as a way to archive their adventures as newlyweds when they first moved to NYC but it has grown to include art, style, food, travel and most recently an adorable baby boy named Hudson. The blog continues to document their sweet family adventures around town (like swimming lessons!) and elsewhere with beautiful photography and heartfelt writing. Ashley and Aron make parenthood in New York City look easy and fun (she will probably kill me for saying that) but it’s true. I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley in person and she is a doll. You know those women you want to sit and have a latte with because they’re just warm and genuine and lovely? That’s so totally the kind of gal Ashley is. And I swear one of these days we will get that latte. Until then, I’ll have to settle for crushing on her from a far and blog visiting with her and her precious family

Blogger Crush: Erica of F’d in Park Slope & Design Blahg

I’ve always said I much prefer an opinionated, even snarky gal to a boring, sweet and nice one. I’m a sucker for ladies who aren’t afraid to share their perspectives in a loud and sassy way. And I love a fellow potty mouth. Enter Erica. She’s a fellow New Yorker and the genius behind two stellar blogs. The first is F’d in Park Slope which both celebrates and pokes fun of the neighborhood everyone loves to hate (Erica is a proud Park Sloper). And she’s also behind Design Blahg, an approachable design blog with a wicked sense of humor. I love this woman. She makes me laugh and if you can make me laugh, I am yours for life. So, there you have it Erica, I’m yours. And I’m available for wine drinking and shit talking anytime.

Blogger Crush: Laura from Smith & Ratliff

Ay yi yi. It has been an awful long time since I’ve posted a blogger crush. But we have a good one today, and if that weren’t enough blogger crush features now have an updated look, to boot. Things are exciting around here that’s for sure. So I meet Laura from Smith & Ratliff back in October because she was one of the guests at the NYC bloggers dessert party that was at my apartment. I instantly liked her. She has a good, relaxed energy and she’s one of those people you are immediately comfortable with. Plus, she brought this amazing pine nut star anise pie, which incidentally ended up being voted the favorite dessert of the afternoon. So it should come as no surprise that Laura is one half of the gorgeous blog Smith & Ratliff. The blog is a joint venture that Laura writes with her boyfriend Ryan. It beautifully documents their life in the West Village (represent!) and is a love letter to all of their favorite things; food, art, New York, cocktails and travel. It oozes coolness and style and you will find yourself wishing you could give their life a spin for a few days. But since that seems rather impossible, reading their badass blog will have to do. For now. A big thanks to Laura for stopping by to play and I hope to bump into you at a West Village coffee shop soon. xoxo

Blogger Crush: Karey from Mackin Ink

It’s been too long. I have neglected the blogger crush series and for that I am sorry. I have no real excuse other than it’s summer and I’ve been feeling so lounge-y and care free and I just haven’t even been organized enough to pull one of these together. So please accept my apology, friends. Lucky for you (and me) the blogger crush I’m featuring today more than makes up for my slackerish nature as of late. Enter Karey of mackin ink. She is quite crush-worthy. I met her at Alt Summit and was instantly drawn to her joyful spirit, her warm presence and her hilarious jokes. She’s the kind of person you want to share a bottle (or three) of wine with. And her blog is magnificent. This one can write, y’all. For real. I’m so giddy to have her here today.
