I’ve always said I much prefer an opinionated, even snarky gal to a boring, sweet and nice one. I’m a sucker for ladies who aren’t afraid to share their perspectives in a loud and sassy way. And I love a fellow potty mouth. Enter Erica. She’s a fellow New Yorker and the genius behind two stellar blogs. The first is F’d in Park Slope which both celebrates and pokes fun of the neighborhood everyone loves to hate (Erica is a proud Park Sloper). And she’s also behind Design Blahg, an approachable design blog with a wicked sense of humor. I love this woman. She makes me laugh and if you can make me laugh, I am yours for life. So, there you have it Erica, I’m yours. And I’m available for wine drinking and shit talking anytime.

Blogger Crush: Laura from Smith & Ratliff

Ay yi yi. It has been an awful long time since I’ve posted a blogger crush. But we have a good one today, and if that weren’t enough blogger crush features now have an updated look, to boot. Things are exciting around here that’s for sure. So I meet Laura from Smith & Ratliff back in October because she was one of the guests at the NYC bloggers dessert party that was at my apartment. I instantly liked her. She has a good, relaxed energy and she’s one of those people you are immediately comfortable with. Plus, she brought this amazing pine nut star anise pie, which incidentally ended up being voted the favorite dessert of the afternoon. So it should come as no surprise that Laura is one half of the gorgeous blog Smith & Ratliff. The blog is a joint venture that Laura writes with her boyfriend Ryan. It beautifully documents their life in the West Village (represent!) and is a love letter to all of their favorite things; food, art, New York, cocktails and travel. It oozes coolness and style and you will find yourself wishing you could give their life a spin for a few days. But since that seems rather impossible, reading their badass blog will have to do. Blogger Crush: Karey from Mackin Ink

It’s been too long. I have neglected the blogger crush series and for that I am sorry. I have no real excuse other than it’s summer and I’ve been feeling so lounge-y and care free and I just haven’t even been organized enough to pull one of these together. So please accept my apology, friends. Lucky for you (and me) the blogger crush I’m featuring today more than makes up for my slackerish nature as of late. Enter Karey of mackin ink. She is quite crush-worthy. I met her at Alt Summit and was instantly drawn to her joyful spirit, her warm presence and her hilarious jokes. She’s the kind of person you want to share a bottle (or three) of wine with. And her blog is magnificent. This one can write, y’all. For real. I’m so giddy to have her here today. Blogger Crush: Brandi from not your average ordinary

Do y’all know Brandi? I’m sure many of you do! She’s the blogging dynamo behind not your average ordinary and pizzeles. Which should both become stops on your regular rounds asap. On not your average ordinary, Brandi writes beautifully about her life and is incredibly honest and real. It’s so refreshing. She’s one of those people who just has a good soul. I love people like that, don’t you? Plus she’s a great cook and baker but don’t take my word for it, check out her food specific blog, pizzelles. And if that weren’t enough, she’s also a total sweetheart. And she’s moving to NYC this summer (but not before taking an epic cross country road trip from San Diego to NYC, which will be so exciting to read about). Blogger Crush: Capree of My Adventure is Your Advantage

Did you ever meet someone who you instantly loved? Someone who you wanted to share a bottle of wine (or 12) with and just talk and chat and make each other laugh. That is how I felt when I met Capree at Alt Summit. She is awesome sauce. And we got along like two peas in a pod. And I miss her! So I guess you could say I have a crush on this fine lass. Yes indeed. So besides being one fantastic lady, Capree is one heck of a blogger. She writes the lovely blog My Adventure is Your Advantage which is a celebration of all things modern, but you can also find her being radical at Grassroots Modern, 2Modern Design Talk and Curbly. So yeah, she’s basically an expert on all things mod and she has phenomenal taste. And she’s seriously cool as hell. A million virtual hugs to you my dear Capree. Come back anytime.

Hooray for more new Alt Summit friends! When I first met Sana I noticed her smokin’ outfit before I even talked to her because it was perfect. I can’t remember exactly what it was but I do remember the whole effect was super stylish but not over the top and annoyingly put together. It oozed coolness and had a very effortless feel. Which in a city full of people who are trying so darn hard, always appeals to this gal. And then once I talked to her I learned she is incredibly sweet and fun! And she lives in NYC! Bonus! Oh my goodness, it’s like we’re blogger soul mates or something. Okay, maybe that’s a bit much but I just really like the girl. And her new blog So Does Estella (expertly designed by another blogger crush o’ mine Kathleen) is a perfect window into the style and coolness that is Sana’s NYC life. I’m very excited about today’s Blogger Crush. Now I’m always excited about Blogger Crushes, but it’s extra special when the object of my affection is someone I know in real life. Carina is one such gal. I met her in January at Alt Summit and let me tell you she is a peach! We hit it off pretty instantly and I knew we were destined to be friends because she seemed to love monopolizing the photo booth as much as I did. She is the woman behind the lovely blog Crow & Canary. She works as a paper rep and has a killer eye for papery goodness that she shares and showcases on her blog. It is a great place to peep some of the beautiful paper inspiration. I wish Carina lived here, because I would attach myself to her hip and we would have a blast gallivanting all over New York City. But, alas, for now my crush will have to remain long distance. Go visit Carina, friends! And tell her I say hello.

I’m super excited to introduce you to another one of my new pals from Alt Summit. Friends, meet Kathleen of the lovely blog Jeremy & Kathleen. She was one of the first people I met at Alt and we instantly bonded. We’re both hilarious, so that part worked out. She’s also from the ad world (like me) but last year she left to become a freelance graphic designer. And homegirl is talented (check out some of the awesome wedding invitations she’s done). I love her blog because it’s a little bit of everything (food! fashion! a trip to Nepal!) and she has wisely utilized her designer chops to make her blog downright beautiful (I love how she designs her food posts). In addition to all over the Alt summit amazingness that I’ve already blabbed about way too much, there was another fun perk. I met so many amazing and talented bloggers which means lots of new blogger crushes. Hooray! Alyssa was one such lady. She is a total sweetheart and is one of those crazy stylish people who would annoy you if she weren’t so darn nice. And she complimented my sparkly dress which I of course appreciated very much. Alyssa is a freelance graphic designer, blogger & magazine creative director from Canada. She started her blog, i like nice things, because she wanted to share the things she loved with her friends. It soon developed a larger following and after a few years, the blog spun off into a magazine, welikewelove. How insanely awesome is that?! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a blogger crush. I’ve just been unorganized and flakey these days. But I’m back with a good one today!
