Something to See

Posted on | June 26, 2012 | 11 Comments

I saw the new Wes Anderson movieĀ Moonrise Kingdom a few weeks ago and I’m pretty sure I was smiling for the entire two hours. It sure was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I don’t think it’s opened nationwide yet but when it does do yourself a favor and get your cute butts to a theater and plunk down the 14 beans to see it. You will love it. This I know.

p.s. the typography is fantastic and was designed by hero of the internetsĀ Jessica Hische

p.p.s. any other summer movies we should discuss? I’m vaguely interested in this or this.

    Treating myself to this movie on Friday! I’m hoping to take my daughter to see “Brave” for her first movie after I pick her up from preschool on Thursday, as well (her little brother isn’t quite old enough for the movie theatre yet, I think). I’m hoping to go see Woody’s latest movie this summer, too (I heard it’s similar in some ways to “Midnight in Paris,” but not as good).

    I was SO EXCITED for Safety Not Guaranteed. I love the guy from New Girl. I don’t know his real life name, only that he’s Nick on New Girl. I saw it on Sunday. It was cute and I had fun and I would still totally recommend it, but it’s not like life-changing or anything. It wasn’t as good as other quirky movies that are among my faves, like Little Miss Sunshine or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

    @Deanna – You will love it! What’s Brave? I’m totally out of the kids movie loop. And I did love “Midnight in Paris,” so that’s a possibility.

    @melissa – Keep me posted. Maybe I’ll just let you go see everything first and tell me if it’s worth going or not. Yes. I think that’s a fabulous plan.

    I would highly recommend “First Position.” It’s a documentary about a handful of kids and teenagers who are competing in a ballet competition. It was incredibly moving and inspiring and hella impressive.

    UGH Moonrise Kingdom isn’t showing anywhere me yet and I’ve been dying to see it.

    I did go see Seeking a Friend last weekend and thought it was wonderful… totally recommend it.

    @Maggie – I am a sucker for a good inspirational documentary. I will check that one out.

    @Karen/Mergie – Really? REALLY?!

    @Katherine – Okay. It’s officially on the list then. (I’ll of course blame you if I don’t like it).

    It was just released in OKC and the only time Jeremy and I could go see it together was at a very late showing on a Monday night. The film ended right at midnight and left me crying just because it was oh so good. I can’t wait to watch it again.
