Run Amy, Run!

Those are a couple of tired little feet, my friends. Those feet ran their first 5K ever yesterday. And for marathoners and serious runners, a 5K is nothing. But to this girl, it’s kind of a big deal. I’ve been “running” off and on for almost two years. The thought of a 5K always terrified me but everyone assured me that I could do it. To be honest, I didn’t totally believe them. I’m in the best shape of my life, but I still wasn’t convinced that I could even finish the stupid thing. However, I did finish the stupid thing. And even though I nearly died toward the end there, I think I’m going to sign up for another one.
Of course, in true Amy fashion, I went and drank all the calories I had burned in the form of (more than) several afternoon beers. But life is all about balance, right? I hope something good happened to you this weekend.
p.s. my leggies look weeeeird

I’m scared of 5K’s too (but I’m likely in the worst shape of my life). I’m very impressed!

Thaaaank you! It really wasn’t all that scary. Although I did prepare for TWO YEARS. Who does that?!

I say this as a very awkward jogger, you’re badass! High fives!

As far as I’m concerned, the whole point of running is so that you can eat (or drink) those calories later. Congrats on getting through your first 5K — that’s awesome! So, NYC Marathon in October for you?

Congrats Amy! I ‘ran’ two 5 k’s, and when I say ran I started running about the first 15minutes and then just walked the rest of it. So kudos to you for running all the way!

@Nicole – From one awkward jogger to another, I thank you.
@Brandi – Um. Nooooo. I don’t think I’ll ever be a crazy marathon lady. The most I could see if maaaaybe a 10k. But for now I’ll just stick with the occasional 5k.
@Tan – Thank you! To be clear, towards the end my running was approximately as slow as molasses.

Word up! Congrats

Well done, lady! Your awesomeness knows no bounds!

WOOOOOOOOOOO! Congrats! And it’s awesome that you’ve already signed up for your second!
I ran my first 5k in April, and I kinda felt like a superhero. A really dorky superhero, as you can see in my post here:

Congrats, Lady! I have been doing Couch to 5k since about Christmas. Ha. But I think I’m ready to tackle a 5k soon. Thanks for the nudge!

Congrats!!

Thank you everyone!
@Mandy – Awesome for you! Virtual first 5k high five?
@Molly – Definitely do it sooner rather than later. I am certain I could have done this a year ago. It’s really just about signing up and forcing yourself to get the first one over with.

Congratulations! It took me almost two years to sign up for my first 5k so you are far from alone there
Glad you enjoyed it!
