Hummus Heaven

I had hummus for dinner last night. And it dawned on me, hummus is a pretty much one of the major food groups in my diet. I eat a lot of the stuff. It’s cheap and easy and quick. Give me a pile of hummus and some pita, maybe some carrots and you’ve got yourself a happy lady. You already know how I feel about dip, but hummus holds a special place in my heart for it’s relatively low calories and protein packed goodness. And it’s dreamy creaminess. I’m a pretty big fan. And I need to start expanding and making some of the speciality hummuses. After poking around a bit on the interwebs, it would seem that the potential varieties of hummus are absolutely endless. I’ve got a lot of work to do. Do y’all also hold hummus in high regard? Silly question, of course you do.

I knew I liked you for a reason… I eat hummus with pita and carrots almost every day (usually at lunch)! It’s so delicious.

I write for a blog called From Scratch Club and we host these awesome food swaps monthly. At least one person always brings some type of hummus and other “swappers” absolutely clamor for it! Everyone seems to like hummus :) I remember a pumpkin hummus being particularly popular.

Those all look so good! And I want to eat that green goo on its own!

I totally understand this. I consider beans a whole food group on their own in our household.

I’m not making any of my own right now, but thanks to our brand new, very first Trader Joe’s in town I have been making regular meals of their falafel chips & hummus. Particularly love the spicy hummus and olive hummus. Yum. Add in some tatziki and I’m in heaven!

Hummus is so good! The best I’ve ever had was in Turkey. They cook spices (paprika, cumin, turmeric) in olive oil then drizzle it on top of the hummus. Do it. You won’t be disappointed
