Face the Music

Do y’all see much live music? I don’t go enough but every time I do I have such a great time. (I’m not-so-secretly hoping the next man I get involved with is a total live music type of guy. I like that quality a lot). A new goal of mine is to get to more concerts. So this summer (a.k.a. the summer of #whynot), I made a concerted effort to try and pay attention to upcoming shows and buy tickets ahead of time. Of course, you can always buy them last minute but they’ll be expensive. And something about having the actual real printed tickets makes it official that you’re going. My method of choice is just to buy two tickets to anything and everything that sounds interesting. And I figure I’ll find a friend or a cute boy to go with me. So far this summer I’m going to Wilco, Old Crow Medicine Show/The Lumineers, Beirut and Bon Iver. Plus there are a couple of free shows in NYC that I’m dying to get to; Alabama Shakes and The Head and The Heart later this summer.
As is per usual in NYC, there’s too much fun to have and simply not enough time to have it all. I can’t stop listening to these guys. And I’ll be seeing them in August. Hoo. Ray. So tell me, any fun concerts lined up?

I don’t see nearly enough live music since having the babe. We do plan on taking toddler-man to his first legit live music concert (we’ve been to loads of outdoor festivals with music) the fall – The Black Keys (probably his favorite). We just need to find out about those headphones to protect his ears.
I’d love the The Head and The Heart live. I bet they’re glorious. Great lineup, Amy. NYC gets all the greats.

Yes! When I saw Bon Iver last summer there were tons of kids in protective ear wear. It was odd but kind of nice. I like to see parents who still do fun things! Your toddler-man sounds like a bad ass – The Black Keys?! Nicely, played.
And yes, The Head and The Heart are absolutely sublime live. Excited to see them outdoors this year.

I’m going to see Wilco, too! They are playing an outdoor show up here by my farm at my favorite brewery… just saying… in case you felt like taking a trip Upstate or something….
I definitely need to look into those free shows you speak of. My best friend lives in Brooklyn and maybe I can get her to go, too.
I don’t go to as many shows as I used to. I think I went to four last year (Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Sam Roberts, Madeleine Peyroux, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones). This year I saw Passion Pit (so only one so far).

Let me know if you come to Brooklyn! Excited for Wilco, a brewery sounds like a fun setting for a concert. How was Passion Pit?
