My Milkshake…

Posted on | March 7, 2012 | 18 Comments

…brings all the boys to the yard, but that’s neither here nor there. The real purpose of this incredibly important post is that I’ve been craving milkshakes. Like a lot. Every morning when I have my sad protein smoothie for breakfast I think “hm. this would be an eff load better if it were a milkshake.” And I want the kind where they bring you most of the milkshake in a tall glass but then wait! There’s some milkshake leftover! And here it is in an icy cold stainless steel cup with a tall spoon. Ohh that’s the good stuff, the stuff dreams are made of. I’m convinced that little extra bit of milkshake could solve most societal problems. Let’s look to the milkshake.

p.s. The best milkshake I’ve ever had.

Layered Milkshakes from Kitchen Simplicity

Nectarine Mint Milkshakes from How Sweet It Is

Oreo Milkshake with Homemade Chocolate Syrup from Lil’ Luna

Almond Joy Milkshake by Spike Mendelsohn on Design*Sponge

Classic Banana Milkshake from Someday Spoon

Pumpkin Pie Milkshake from We Art Not Martha

    This isn’t right, showing me photos of delicious milkshakes so early in the morning. Now I have several hours to plot how I’m going to get one. Of course, it can’t just be any milkshake. I effing want the best milkshake in all of the DC-VA-MD area. The quest begins…

    What about the Oreo milkshake from Mick’s?!? Complete with cookie on top AND they give you the whole shaker. RIP.

    All of those are almost too BEE-U-TEE-FUL to drink.

    Ooh these look SO good! I love a classic chocolate milkshake. When I was little and my mom would have a late meeting or something, my dad would always make milkshakes for dinner with the caveat, “don’t tell mom, okay?”

    Milkshakes rule! And totally agree that the milkshake leftover in the stainless steel cup is THE best. Especially when they put extra whipped cream in there :)

    @Deanna – I love your dad.
    @Keiley – RIP Micks in general! Sad, sad times. Also, wasn’t your and Todd’s first date there? (awkwardly good memory over here)
    @erin – On. It.

    We have a place here called The Counter. They do “adult milkshakes”. Booze + ice cream. Yes!

    Mmmmm. These all sound delicious! I just might have to get one soon. And I am completely on board with the idea of booze in that milkshake. Flipsters in Park Slope has what they call “big boy shakes” but I will have to check out Bowery Diner too!

    These milkshakes are putting my chunky/gritty protein shake to shame :/

    Dude – a sliced frozen banana + 3/4 cup of milk + a scoop of vanilla protein powder very well blended = a pretty decent approximation of a milk shake. I’ll add nutmeg + cinnamon and pretend it’s an eggnog milkshake.

    I guess I should note that D maintains this is NOTHING like a milkshake, but I think it’s because he hates even the faintest taste of banana. I think they are awesome.

    Thanks Amy for showing off our classic banana milkshake. This is great collection of shakes, I am looking forward to warmer days so I can get out the blender and start making milkshakes again.

    Wow, Micks… what an amazing blast from the past. Also worth mentioning (fast food category): Steak & Shake, Shamrock Shake from Micky Ds (so I hear), and any Chick-fil-A flavor.

    Booze and ice cream makes me happy.
    @Rachel – frozen banana seems genius
    @Karen – what is it with the Shamrock Shake? I’m too afraid to try one.

    Last night I had to sit through the most godawful work meeting until 11 pm and so I let myself get an oreo shake on the way home. Best. Decision. Ever. And then I went immediately to sleep so I didn’t have time to regret it!

    @Amy Yes, Todd’s and my first date was at Mick’s after it died and became, wait for it, Thirsty Dog Tavern. Amazing we survived. In other news, come home and play with me and Margie!!!
