Flat as a Pancake

I have a protein smoothie for breakfast everyday. And it’s pretty tasty, don’t get me wrong. Sometimes on the weekends I’ll have a giant yogurt parfait with berries and granola. And then once and awhile I’ll get crazy with some delectable egg dish at brunch. But I pretty much never, ever have pancakes. Which is sad because pancakes are oh so delicious. Maybe one of these days I’ll really live it up and have a huge pile of pancakes swimming in maple syrup. Is there anything better? I mean, come on.

Dr. Oz said that there is proof that people who cheat on their diets are more likely to keep weight off then those who don’t.

p.s. I put bananas on and then they caramelize…. and I use lowfat canola butter…. and you don’t need much syrup then.

The New York State Maple Weekend is this coming weekend (just in case you felt the need to take a road trip to an Upstate sugar house).

Awww man I love pancakes! I don’t often order them in restaurants though because I feel like homemade ones are always the best.
Hmm now I want pancakes for dinner. Uh oh

This Martha recipe is one of my all-time favorites. I sub half the flour with white whole wheat, and sometimes I add in some wheat germ. The recipes makes a ton, most of which I freeze in pairs. Toss them in the toaster and I’m good to go for a weekday breakfast that doesn’t need syrup thanks to the brown sugar and cinnamon in the mix. But, if you want a slightly sweeter version these are great with peach jam!

I never ordered pancakes let alone make them at home. they always seemed like so much work and too many calories. Then I had a baby…she LOVES them and they’re a great way for me to sneak in her fruits and veggies. I just blend pears, broccoli, peas, strawberries, whatever, and toss them in the mix. She loves them and I don’t mind them either
