Vacational Therapy

So. Winter showed up last week and I’ve been exclusively wearing my level 3 coat. It’s been the kind of weather where the wind cuts through you. Like, the wind is actually pissed at you but you have no idea what you did. I mean, it’s to be expected, right? It’s February after all. And like clockwork, I start craving a warm vacation right around now. A chaise lounge, some sun, some fruity tropical drinks, a good book. That is what vacation means to me. My friend Tammy and I are planning a quick getaway to a warm climate in the next month or so. And just talking about it, thinking about it, knowing that it’s in the (not too distant) future is so dang therapeutic. Sometimes I wonder if maybe the getting excited/lead up to the vacation actually rivals the awesomeness of the vacation itself. Thoughts?

Where are you going? I was planning an Aruba trip, until I started doing our taxes. I owe so much money – UGH.

We’re thinking Bahamas or Puerto Rico. Sorry for your tax woes. That’s the worst!

I seriously could not agree more. Spent a year planning a week-long vacay to the Caribbean islands and I think the excitement, the dreaming the outfit planning was almost as thrilling as the trip itself. I love that part. Adore it. Thrive on it.

Enjoy! Can’t wait to read about it. :-)

I think any reminder that the world is bigger than your cube or office or city is a very welcome reminder. And I’m feeling the need for a warmer climate too right now.

Glad to know I’m not the only one. It’s just so fun to have something to look forward to.

Yesterday, I booked a trip to Florida for May. I’ve never been and I can’t wait to sit on the beach and read and maybe have a few cocktails for five full days. Three months seems so long to wait! I hope you have a lovely time on your winter getaway!

I actually read a study once upon a time that said the lead-up anticipation of a vacation is actually more psychologically fulfilling than the actually vacation itself, so it’s better to take several shorter vacations than one blow-out vacation per year. If i happen across that study again, I’ll send it to you.

I can’t relate to the season (being an Aussie and in Summer) but that photo makes me want to leave the office pronto and sit on the beach! Ahh holiday dreaming while in my ‘fluroescent paradise!’

Damn it Amy, now I want to go travel!
We’re going to Morocco in May (yet to be booked) and I can’t freaking wait.

I know. I’m sorry! But I can’t help but pass on the travel bug. And you should shut it. MOROCCO?! That sounds awesome.

yes! planning a vacation and just thinking about it is as much fun as actually being there. the anticipation kills me and motivates me so much. We’re actually going on a little birthday getaway this weekend and I can hardly believe it is here. This morning my husband looked at me and said “are we really leaving on thursday?!” ummmm….yes! Punta Cana here we come.

    have fun planning! x
