party time is the best time

Hi friends. I hope you enjoyed your respective weekends. Mine was lovely. As I mentioned last week, Natalie and I hosted a little dessert party at my place on Saturday afternoon for NYC bloggers. It was a fantastic time with plenty of delicious desserts to go around. It was so nice to meet so many fascinating, creative lady bloggers. My pal (and photographer extraordinaire) Katie Murphy was there and she took some real pictures that I will share with you just as soon as I can get my hands on them. But until then here’s the invite we sent out and a few candids I snapped with my camera. All in all, a perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Did I mention we had some pretty fantastic gift bags, to boot! And guess what? There were a few extras so in lieu of each and every one of you being able to attend I’ll be giving away one of these awesome gift bags right here. It’ll be like you were there! So in keeping with the theme, leave a comment with your favorite fall dessert and I’ll pick a winner at the end of the week. Don’t miss out, everyone loves a gift bag!

I designed this invite that we sent out.
Co-hostesses looking festive.
Natalie made these insane caramel sea salt brownies. And we used these little flags to identify each delicious treat. Aren’t they cute?

Here are the GIFT BAGS I mentioned! Come on, don’t you totally want one of your very own?
My table was covered with delectable treats… each one more mouth watering than the last. (pictured: chewy molasses cookies, pine nut anise pie, apple cider candy corn rice krispie treat cake, caramel sea salt brownies and miniature pear pies)

pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting inside! divine!

Oh, right right. My favorite fall dessert is probably a pumpkin cake that I make with cream cheese frosting and candied walnuts. Though I do also love apple pie with vanilla ice cream and a slice of cheddar (does anyone else do that? I think it might be regional to where I’m from?).
PS – Amy and Natalie, you looked gorgeous! Quite the hosting pair.

My mom makes a great molasses cake every Fall. It’s really dense and tastes heavenly. I look forward to it all year long.

It’s hard to beat pumpkin bread with chocolate chips in it.

oh my goodness, asking me to pick a favorite dessert? I think a simple apple crisp with vanilla bean icecream and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top takes the (proverbial) cake.

I love the apple cake recipe from Design Sponge a couple of years ago. I absolutely love this time of year and that cake is one of the reasons!

Amy, thank you for welcoming us into your lovely home. I meant to tell you on Saturday that I was envious of your Carrie Bradshaw-style walk-through closet set up. What a great apartment!
You and Natalie were wonderful hostesses. That gift bag rocked! I can’t wait to order something from EmersonMade with the discount code, and I may or may not have busted into the treat mix like a rabid animal on my subway ride home.

You were an amazing co-hostess! I couldn’t have done it with anyone else.

Looks like a yummy time. My favorite treat has to be pumpkin pie with real whipped cream. Or molasses cookies. I can’t decide!

It may not be original, but sweet potato pie all the way!

i want one! my favorite fall dessert is (cliche) pumpkin pie or pecan pie with whipped cream, but skip the filling and just eat the crust all soaked with goodness!

Thanksgiving can’t be complete without pumpkin pie (duh!) and chocolate cheesecake brownies!

I just realized that I’ve been reading your blog for more than a year but have never commented, so hi and thanks for the great inspiration, stories, and creativity!

I think you and Natalie pulled off a fantastic little soiree! Your place is adorable too, by the way. As for that little boyfriend matter….it will get easier. Ugh. Never fun to go through though. Take care!

dutch. apple. pie. does it count if it’s a favorite year round too?
November 8th, 2011 @ 5:40 pm
Wow, what a delicious looking party! Every fall my mom makes a big batch of homemade caramel corn, it’s so good! I eat so much of it when fall rolls around, its a good thing its a seasonal treat!
November 8th, 2011 @ 11:27 pm
Ohhhh a love a goody bag! Pumpkin pie is too obvious so I’ll say homemade caramels that melt in your mouth. I could easily eat about 100 in one sitting.

ooh I loveOutrageous Baking’s chocolate zucchini bread. it’s gluten free and oh so tasty. I do love to make vanilla scones from Pioneer Woman as well. Is it weird that I also like warm cinnamony rice pudding? Or ice cream with a cup of coffee on the side?
ok now I’m hungry.
