It’s a Beautiful Day for Baseball

Well it’s October which means post season in baseball terms. And my beloved Atlanta Braves did not make it this year. It’s been over a week now since they lost and I’m finally feeling okay about things. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I take these loses too personally. But how could I not? I grew up on the Bravos and loving that team is a part of who I am. It’s all connected to my childhood, my roots, my family and my southerness. All things that I hold very near and dear to this heart of mine. So, after what was a terrible month of Atlanta Braves baseball, our season ended a week ago. So, I have shifted my focus to The Yankees. My boyfriend is a die hard fan, and while I don’t feel as emotionally connected with that team, I’m part New Yorker now. And you’ll never catch me rooting for the stupid Mets. Tonight is a big game for the Yankees. And if it can’t be my team, it might as well be my man’s.

And with baseball on the brain I thought it topical to provide you with some handsome men for your eye holes. In my humble opinion, baseball players are the hottest of all athletes. I mean. Look at this collection of gorgeous men I’ve assembled and tell me baseball players (real and fictional) are not the absolute best.
1. Derek Jeter There’s a reason he was with Minka Kelley (aka hottest woman on the planet) for so long.
2. Lou Gherig Dimples.
3. John Smoltz Perhaps I’m letting my alliance to the Bravos cloud my judgement. But I love this man.
4. Roy Hobbs Young Robert Redford. Don’t have say anything else.
5. Grady Sizemore More dimples.
6. Crash Davis Kevin Costner = super sexy (he’s even better in Field of Dreams but he wasn’t an actual player).
7. Brian McCann More love for my Bravos, he is adorable.
8. Jimmy Dugan Well, Tom Hanks is the best for starters. And “Did anyone ever tell you, you look like a penis with that little hat on? ”
9. Huston Street The hair my friends, look at the hair.

For me: David Wright. So darn cute. I’m from a family of Mets fans (I have no control over that), so a Met only seems natural — and there are some good ones there.

Baseball players are definitely the hottest of all the athletes out there. Don’t forget Costner in “For Love Of The Game” and “The Upside of Anger.” He was a player in both movies. We showed “A League of Their Own” on the barn this summer. Awesome movie… only awesomer because of the penis comment.

Joey D was kinda cute, don’t you think? I mean, he DID bed Marilyn, after all. Must have been the way he swung his bat :-)

Oh, PS – if you and your man ever decided you want to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, you can totally stay on the farm, we’re an easy 1-hour drive from Cooperstown.

This is such a cute post, I was such a Johnny Damon fan for awhile. My beloved Red Sox didn’t make the cut, but my husband’s Phillies did so I’m a Phan for now. Sorry about the Yankees!

No Steve Garvey?!?! Maybe you were too young for him. And I love Derek Jeter, too!
