What’s that smell?

I love playing the top five game. It can be top five movie soundtracks or top five types of booze or top five gameshows or… You get the idea. So today I’m playing top five smells. It was harder than I thought though, so I had to cheat and make it top six smells. And this list is subject to change. But for now, on this Tuesday morning, these are my favorite smells. What are yours?

Ahhh the smell of summer, beach and getting a tan. Extra enticing during these terrible winter months. {via}

I’m quite sure there is no better way to wake up then to the smell of bacon frying. Sidenote: this pic is hilarious, I might need it on tshirt. {via}

I know there are fancier kinds but this is the kind I like. When i was little my dad would let me smell it before he added it to the pancake batter on lazy weekend mornings. And I’ve still have never had a better pancake than my dad’s. {via}

I’m a pool person and I come from a pool family. When I smell a pool it is instantly summer, I’m back home in Atlanta and surrounded by friends and family. Now, what’s better than that? {via}

I’ve often thought of starting a business where you can rent out babies just to get some nice deep whiffs of their heads. I’d pay good money for access to a baby’s head. I think it’s pretty genius. {via}

Strong, sweet and feminine. I’d like to look into having one permanently tucked behind my ear ala Billie Holiday. {via}

    ooohh, this will be tough. and some of mine cross into some of yours. here we go, in no particular order:

    1. the smell of a campfire. earthy, woodsy, rich, relaxing.

    2. fresh baked cookies in the oven. fills the entire house with that deliciousness.

    3. fresh citrus. most of my perfumes and body lotions have a strong citrus note. nothing like the smell of a fresh cut orange.

    4. my favorite candle is from archipelago…the scent is called cairo. a little spicy, exotic, but with warm, mellow notes, too.

    5. bacon. cannot lie. divine.

    Agree-agree-agree-agree-agree-agree. And as gross as this is, when I was studying in Spain, I really missed the smell of dollar bills; I mean, they’re dirty, stinky, nasty, etc. but it just represented home.

    Top five WORST smells is also a fun game…

    My top 5 childhood seasonal smells
    (IMO, the best types of smells)

    1. Freshly cut grass in the Spring
    2. A new pencil case at the start of school
    3. Chimney smoke at night in late Autumn
    4. Yearly new football boots (u call them cleats)
    5. Toasting slices of bread on my grandparents coal fire on winter nights

    First – eff yes bacon cat! That’s pretty awesome.

    I LOVE the smell of vanilla. I used to find this fancy French perfume that was just vanilla, but I can’t find it anymore, so I wear Kiehl’s Vanilla Essence Oil everyday (if you mix it with the Amber Oil, it’s beyong heavenly!).

    As a momma of two kids, I will gladly vouch that baby heads are divine. Buy some Johnson and Johnson baby wash and sniff it every now and again. Not quite the same but close.

    I agree with the other commenters – my Top 5 favorite smells (besides what I just mentioned!)are: Woodstove/Campfire/Fireplace (in other words, burning wood, especially from fell fruit trees), fresh cut grass, beef stew or beef bourguignon, lilacs, and sundried linens.

    I wanna play!

    1- freshly bathed baby
    2- clean towels, hot from the dryer
    3- sawdust
    4- mandarin oranges, with a hint of vanilla
    5- the smell of anything baking, particularly sugar cookies

    p.s. That cat picture is bad ass. My husband (who loves both cats and bacon) will be getting a shirt with that on it.

    Wow agree with everything so far, especially pool smell, baby head smell, burning wood, vanilla coconut.

    Would add for myself: fresh apple and cinnamon (by themselves or together), Christmas tree, cilantro, and (because I’m crazy) gasoline.

    Coconut, bacon and vanilla extract aren’t just three of my favorite smells. They’re three of my favorite things on earth. Wisely chosen, friend. My other two smells would be: a campfire and lavender.

    [...] aside from the weirdnesses that I made note of, makes total sense, I pretty much worship gardenia (which I’ve mentioned). So, I’m sticking with Marc Jacobs for awhile. That’s my big news. Huge news, [...]
