Inspiration Folder: Dirty Dancing

This movie kind of defined my childhood. And let’s be honest, it still continues to define my adulthood. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch but this movie is just plain awesome. And the soundtrack? Um yeah, listened to the TAPE so many times I wore it out on one side. I’m pretty sure it was ‘Hungry Eyes’ by Eric Carmen that I just had to listen to 6 trillion times. And still to this day, if I happen to catch it on TV I have to cancel all plans, camp out on the couch and watch it with my undivided attention. After all, nobody puts Baby in corner. Nobody puts Amy in a corner, either.

I asked Taylor if the last song at our wedding could be “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”
I can’t believe he said no.
I may have to put Taylor in a corner.
Love the “I carried a Watermelon” pic. I use that phrase WAY to often in real life.

No one puts baby in the corner. I love this movie when I was a kid. I knew someone who got that pink dress and I was soo super jealous!

I do love Dirty Dancing, as well! I always wished I could dance like Baby!

Yes! I love everything about it. I got a perm, cutoff jeans and Keds when I was six. My mom said, “Now you look just like Baby!” I couldn’t have been happier. I watched the movie so many times on VHS that my older brothers destroyed the tape (along with Follow That Bird). The lake scene is the best. And walking on the log!

Golly, I can’t tell you how much I loved this movie when I was young. It was the second cassette tape I ever owned and I listened to it over and over again. It was in my mom’s car when it was stolen, and the thief took the soundtrack after ditching the car. I was heartbroken. Thank goodness for the internet.

Dirty Dancing is king!
I have written a book on Dirty Dancing–how it has had a positive impact on so many lives and why it is still so popular!

I have to admit that I just used NOPBIAC in an email to Zigmas and Christina 2 days ago. And I fully agree that it is foolish for anyone to attempt to put Amy in a corner. Good luck to those who try.

Could NOT agree with you more! This was my first favorite movie (at 8 years old) and is still in my Top 5. Of course at 8 years old I had no idea what the movie was really about – knocked up? What does that mean? I didn’t care…as long as they were dancing and the music was great I was happy!
