My New Temporary Home

It’s small, kids. I’m not going to lie. It’s REALLY small. But it’s nestled right in the heart of the best neighborhood in the whole wide world (the West Village, obvie) and it’s clean and furnished and is just what I need for right now. But let me clear, when I say small that’s exactly what I mean. It’s one tiny, lil’ weensy room with the worlds most miniature bathroom attached. It even has a murphy bed. Someday I’ll have a big, grown-up sized apartment again, but for now I’m nice and cozy.

the front door. and the kitchen, which is really more of a kitchen-ish.

aforementioned pint sized bathroom

Working fireplace (too hot to use these days). That’s the closet and minimal storage on the right side.

Window seat that looks out into the most insane courtyard garden that ever existed.

And, yeah, that’s my bed behind that brown wood. I have to move those chair each night and put them back each morning. Only in New York.

Oh New York apartments. This one is pretty adorable. And that window seat? Perfection.

It’s fancy. Do you have an oven?

Looks cozy… but hey, that’s what you get in large cities. I once had a 17sq.m. flat and that was small! My flat in Helsinki is 26 sq.m. and that already feels big… I almost wouldn’t know what to do with more space!

I adore it! And if it makes you feel any better, I even have a murphy bed in my 2 bedroom, 1200 square foot townhouse. Took me a while to come to terms with it – I kept envisioning one of the Muppet movies from the 80s where Gonzo got stuck in this nasty dirty one. But the truth is, murphy beds have come a long way.

You’re all invited over! Just not at the same time, of course.

It’s amazing! I love cozy. Just think how sweet it will be in the winter, when you’re huddled up inside. Less to heat!

Extremely small? Maybe. Precious as all get out? Definitely.

Take it from me (and my gargantuan gas and electricity bills), large apartments are very overrated.

PS – Love how cozy your new place is.

PPS – If you’re interested, my friend Lisa (who you met at my bbq on Sunday) will be subletting her studio in the WV starting in January – she is moving to Australia. Not sure your plans but figured I’d throw it out there!

Small or not, it’s adorable. Reminds me of a tiny place I had in Phoenix. It was teeny, but really well maintained and appointed.
