My Five
Posted on | August 19, 2010 | 9 Comments
I was recently asked what the five things I couldn’t live without were. Family, friends, water and oxygen do not count. It’s a toughy, but a fun one to think about. I think, like many of these hyperbolic lists that I happen to love, they are always subject to change. But here’s my working list:
1. Laptop A part of me feels sad that I’ve become so technology dependent but what can I say, I’m an absolute laptop addict. I’d be lost without it. And no, I do not have super extreme surfing pics on my laptop. In fact, my desktop background is currently this.
2. Fresh fruit Although it would get a bit tricky during the winter, I”m pretty sure I could survive on a fruit-only diet. Between watermelon, nectarines, berries and cherries I could last at least a six months. You’re going to have a tough time convincing me there’s anything better.

3. A Good Book This is kind of a cheat because it’s not exactly a single item. But a good read is definitely something I couldn’t exist without. And, of course, I’ve mentioned some of my fave reads to you before.
{How’s this for genius? This artist will paint a custom commissions of your bookshelves. All she needs is images of the books, so it could be a real bookshelf or an amazing pretend one that exists only in your imagination. I’m putting this on the ‘someday when I have piles of money lying around and I don’t know maybe a place to live’ list.}
4. Booze And I know what you’re thinking: someone has a problem. And yes, I will admit that perhaps my love for alcohol has at times been a touch questionable. But at least it’s not crack so let’s just go with it: red wine, white wine, sangria, mojitos and other cocktails featuring fresh mint, basil, ginger or berries, mexican beers with salt and lime, the occasional cold bud light, my beloved micheladas.
5. A Camera It doesn’t have to be any particular kind, in fact I prefer to have a couple different ones. And I don’t even have to take every picture, but I think it’s important that a camera is there to capture moments and adventures. Like this one, a definite favorite from the last year. Fits in nicely with this little collection that I love with my whole heart.
*The five things I couldn’t live without should not be confused with another list, the five things I want to accomplish in this lifetime as shared with Melisa over at the lil bee.

@Merg – I think I posted that photo on FB last year. I believe Gary said we were laughing because you said you “had lost the ability to look.” No idea what it means but it sounds pretty awesome.
@Karen – I said it was a working list, I might add Chick-fil-a.
@Ash – No, I love you!
