Summer Reading

Posted on | June 2, 2010 | 12 Comments

Now that summer is (basically) here, time to get your summer reading all lined up.

First of all, magazines are crucial beach or poolside reading. And after the fall of so many greats recently (Cottage Living, Blueprint, Domino), it’s extra exciting and fun to stumble across new ones.

But we shouldn’t forget the old standbys..

And sometimes you just want some brain candy…

But nothing is better than a good book. Here’s what’s on my nightstand waiting patiently to be read.

What are you going to read this summer?

@d&d I actually thought it was pretty good. Nothing amazing but a solid way to spend an hour on a Sunday.

I only subscribe to one magazine… I think perhaps I need to expand my horizons a bit??

That Fresh Home Magazine looks like it may be a good one to try.

I loved, loved, loved ‘The Help’. It was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. Right now I am reading ‘People of the Book’. My summer list also includes ‘Water for Elephants’ which I have been meaning to read forever.

I picked up a Vogue the other day and I have got to say that is an old standby for magazines that never gets old.

I just started Julie & Julia this morning and can’t wait to finish it on the beaches of Miami this weekend! :)

A friend just told me about “The Help.” She said it was incredible. I will probably pick it up once I’m finished with my current reading list. Thanks for the suggestions.

oooooh, i love to read! i loved “the help”, and i’m in the middle of “cutting for stone” right now, which is turning out to be one of my favorite books of all time. what could be better than a book titled “geek love” you’ll have to report back if it’s a good read. i’ve also got “sarah’s key” and “love in the time of cholera” on my bookshelf.

I am reading “Whistling Dixie in a Nor’easter” So far it is pretty good. I am a Yankee that moved south so it is a bit humorous in all the wrong ways for me:) I can’t wait to read The Help though.
