Thoughts on nail polish…

Posted on | April 15, 2010 | 12 Comments

The change in season means it’s pedicure season, so yahoo! Time to bust out the sandals and flip flops and show those toes. With this comes the decision of color. I recently tweeted a question (nerd alert!): Matching fingernail and toenail polish, yes or no? I only received one answer which was pretty emphatic no. Normally I would not suggest matching polishes but for last manicure I got a tomato red with just a hint of orange in it and I just loved it so so much I wondered if I get it on my toes and my fingers. I ended up getting a rosy pink on my fingers and the tomato red on my toes (see pic) but what do y’all think? No matchy-matchy, right? Or are you okay with it if the color is super awesome? Thoughts?

Jackie Kennedy always said a lady’s toes should be red and her finger nails pink. I listen to her!

Just so your fingers and toes make you smile. I loved Jackie Kennedy, but that advice is from the 60′s. I say paint them as you please.

No matchy-matchy for the win. I like pink or nude or clear for fingernails and something bold/bright/dark for toe nails. I think it’s mostly because my fingernails chip so easily so it’s less obvious with a light color.

I am all for matching toes and fingers. If you don’t match, then at least have them in complimenting tones… But that’s just me :)
Love the red on your toes!!

Another vote for the no matchy-matchy. I feel inspired to get groomed now!

I prefer not to match my toes and fingers, but I do enjoy complimentary colors. Just makes me feel a little more put together. I’ve had both painted red before, it’s not something that bothered me. Right now my toes are turquoise and my fingers are pink. I like it. :)

I totally agree with Margaret, although if it’s the right color, I think you can go nails/toes. However, I am ADAMANT that one should never have a french pedicure – there should not be that much toenail for white tipping. GROSS.

Oh, I Iike matching, and even french pedicures, but usually I have pale on both fingers and toes, just looks clean to me. But THIS time, I went for a dark rosy-brown on both ( I really wanted black, but I chickened out) and I must say it looks great! 4 days and no chips yet…a new record for me!
