Kitchen Dreams

What if I was the kind of lady who wore a cute retro apron? Maybe I would bake amazing from-scratch chocolate chip cookies (which I still have never done, mine are always too cakey). And if I did that I would surely keep my eggs and butter in these charming, vintage-inspired holders. That would be nice.
Dear Anthropologie, OK we get it. You are unbelievably awesome and perfect in every way. Love, Amy

I’ve got a yellow and blue anthro butter dish… even bread and butter tastes better… it works! P.S. a great cookie secret… make the batter the night before and refridgerate before popping onto the sheet and into the oven. This does two things: 1) the ingredients gel properly (egg coats things and keeps everything from getting acquainted if not allowed to sit long enough), and 2) makes it so they cookies don’t spread out so much. I’ve been working on my peanut butter and chocolate chip for a year now and I think they are perfect. (I like to roll the uncooked cookies in a little salt too.) No more pancake cookies!

I agree with Melissa that refrigerating the dough makes cookies yummier.
Also, I am in love with this recipe on Smitten Kitchen: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/11/leites-connusmate-chocolate-chip-cookie/

good morning amy, i just love aprons…any and all! here is my tip for great chocolate chip cookies. i never, ever use a mixer…always mix by hand. i set my butter out hours in advance of making them. by minimizing the air whipped into the cookies, you avoid the cakie effect. have a great day.
