Agreed! My brother just didn't understand why I returned the Kindle that he got me a few years ago. Recently I decided that I should read the top 200 ficton novels of all time, currently I'm working on Great Expectations, but I have to admit that Dickens is not my fave. Loved Wuthering Heights though!

I'm reading a couple of books right now. Anna Karinina is what I read during breakfast, but at night I'm reading The Memory Keeper's Daughter, which I highly recommend.

I'm reading "The Help" right now. It's about black women raising white children in Mississippi. I've only read the first couple of chapters, but I'm hooked!

I have a Kindle and it is great for traveling and on the go reading but nothing beats holding a real book. I am reading Game Change which is an in depth look at the political campaigns in the presidential election of 2008 with a sharp focus on the individual candidates and their spouses. It is revealing and informative.

I completely agree with your comments about books. As shiny and enticing as the Kindle may be, it just doesn't compare to an actual book.
I just finished The Story of Edgar Sawtelle and LOVED it. I cried. It was just that good.

Gosh I love Pat Conroy.

I've got a few books on the go at the moment, waiting for one to hook me in, then I'll go back and finish the others.

My Year of Meat by Ruth Ozeki
A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley
and Hells Angels by Hunter S. Thompson.

In honor of the death of both Salinger and Zinn, my next (re) reads are "Catcher in the Rye" and "A People's History." I highly recommend either.
