Simple Happiness: Moleskines

Posted on | August 26, 2009 | 7 Comments

Every creative type person needs a good sketchpad/notebook with which to house all that creativity. I am a fairly recent convert to the world of the Moleskine. But better late than never as I always say. And these Moleskines are perfect. Some people love the hard bound versions with the lined paper and the elastic wraparound band. But not me. I am absolutely in love with the extra large soft cover Cahier and while I’ll take black I much prefer the kraft paper cover. It’s lightweight, the perfect size and the paper is unlined which is better for doodling. I also have some of the wee ones which I keep in my purse sometimes for lists and what not. They’re a little pricey, considering it’s just a notebook. But if a notebook can make you happy, I say go with it.

I couldn’t agree more. I retired my old friend the composition notebook long ago.

That’s funny. I thought about you when I was writing this and wondered if you still used those old composition books.

Yes, ma’am I keep one in my purse at all times.

Good for thoughts, rants, books to read.

    I wouldn’t quite live without mine (:

my favorites. converted to these from my beloved clairefontaines after college. the muted tones of the kraft paper feels less hectic…though nothing beats the paper quality of clairefontaine…clearly i think far too much about this sort of thing.

I just bought a pack of those last week (with a craft paper cover, no less) and I’m still on the fence about it. There’s just something about my old recycled paper sketchbook that I haven’t found in these yet. But, I have a Moleskine planner that I absolutely love, and I’m willing to give these a try.

Mm, I totally agree. That reminds me that I need to snatch some up before the school year begins.

I love these as well. I usually buy the lined ones and keep them in my purse. I can fill them as I like and I keep them to refer back to. I like that they are small and not hard and thick, that way I can use one per month and then start fresh again each month.
