The Perfect Easy Dessert

I enjoy baking but I try not to do it too much because it usually leads to me over indulging a bit. I had a pie crust left over from Thanksgiving so I figured I had to find something to do with it. So I improvised a rustic fall fruit galette. I remember seeing recipes for them but I sort of made some of it up based on what I had in my own kitchen. I feel compelled to share this because it was so simple and yummy.

Here’s how I did it;
-Preheat oven to about 375.
-Unroll pie crust onto lightly greased cookie sheet (if you want to make your own pie crust go for it, but I prefer it if Pillsbury makes it for me).
-Peel and slice apples, pears, whatever (summer fruits would be taaasty!)
-To the sliced fruit add sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, etc. (you are basically making fruit pie filling here). You could add lemon zest/juice here as well (I didn’t have any, but felt the fruit needed something liquid-y to bond it, so I added pumpkin butter! Heavenly).
-Dump all of the fruit into the middle of your pie crust (you could do a pretty pattern but I personally love the rustic look of it all piled on top of each other). Then fold in and pinch the edges all the way around to create a crust.
-Put some butter pats on top of your pile of fruit so the melt down into whilst cooking (I actually forgot to do this but I know it would make it tastier).
-Brush the crust with an egg wash (a beaten egg and some water) this will make it glisten all pretty like.
-Bake for about 30 minutes or until it looks and smells divine.

It is the perfect easy dessert! You can’t screw it up and the rustic-messiness of it actually ends up looking quite sophisticated. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream unless you are some kind of crazy person who doesn’t like ice cream. Perfect for your next dinner party (not that I ever have dinner parties, but you get the idea). Enjoy!
